Tire choice - The basics

Mention a tire and some people will praise them while others despise them.

Now the question is:

Are the both right, wrong or one of them wrong?

In some cases the conclusion will be that either might be true.

However, what ever the conclusion is the topic 'Tire'is not as straight forward as it seems.

Before anyone engages in a battle over how good or how bad a tire is the following point should be considered.

The German automobile club ADAC makes at least 2 annual tire test. Usually a summer and a winter tire test. For each test they use different cars testing the same tire and they use different tire sizes of the same tire model on some of the other cars.

The reason for doing this is quite simple. Each reacts different to the same tire> This means that some cars work well with one tire and another car might work rather disappointing with this tire.

Also a certain model of tire might work well in general on the cars, but a different size of this tire model does not work well on other cars.

Before a general statement is made about a tire, this should be considered.
